A sextuple-wood bottling from Dalmore. This auspiciously-named single malt Scotch whisky was matured in wine, Madeira, Sherry, Marsala, Kentucky bourbon and Port casks. King Alexander III is a rich, fruity Highland single malt.
Malty and utterly Dalmore. Seville orange zest, Parfait Amour, malty cereal, barley and chocolate. Creamy vanilla fudge, tropical fruit with a vaguely vinous quality.
Medium, rounded. Winter berries, spice, zesty orange. Liqueurs emerge; Grand Marnier, kirsch and Frangelico.
Peppery with well-integrated oak and the claret makes a last minute appearance.

10/10 from me and my old man (50 ain't that old?) he got me into whisky ages ago adamant I would hate it... loved my first sip, and since the we have tried many a good Malts (macallan, dalwhinnie, balvennie etc to name a few) so we are strangers to the best the malt world has to offer. ahem, having had all of the Dalmore line (12/15/18yr + the king Alexander) we have came to the conclusion that the King Alexander is THE BEST malt we have ever had! it is simply the Gods nectar... we consider the dalwhinnie 15/ dalmore 15/ balvenie 12 out go to standards, so some might say we set the bar quite high, but hey each to their own... so if the "buyers also bought" led you here don't let the price have you making second thoughts this is worth every drop/penny.
I fell for whiskeys when I acquired a taste for Macallen and have been tasting other brands to help my curiosity While I wouldn't return it as a gift it would not be my first choice at this price
This was by far my favourite out of all the ones we sampled. I really don't like bourbon much but this one has such a slight aftertaste and a smell of bourbon along with a very smooth finish.
Malty cereal and barley presence. Sour young oranges, burnt citrus peel. Medium body with oak flavor. No spice. Slight dryness, slight cocoa. Good dram for Dalmore. I like the 18yr still.
Received this as a sample in the Master of Malt Christmas Festive Selection tasting set, and wow, this was an immediate favorite! The nose has a lot of notes as mentioned by the chaps at MoM, but I also found a light, brown sugary quality after it opened up a few minutes. The palate is extraordinary, smooth, and pleasingly complex with citrus and spice, but the finish surprised me most. In my opinion, peppered and oaky notes in a finish lead me to expect a certain bite, but this is one was silky smooth. Unfortunately this is out of my price range, but I've already started saving my pennies!
