A sextuple-wood bottling from Dalmore. This auspiciously-named single malt Scotch whisky was matured in wine, Madeira, Sherry, Marsala, Kentucky bourbon and Port casks. King Alexander III is a rich, fruity Highland single malt.
Malty and utterly Dalmore. Seville orange zest, Parfait Amour, malty cereal, barley and chocolate. Creamy vanilla fudge, tropical fruit with a vaguely vinous quality.
Medium, rounded. Winter berries, spice, zesty orange. Liqueurs emerge; Grand Marnier, kirsch and Frangelico.
Peppery with well-integrated oak and the claret makes a last minute appearance.

No 'No Age Statement' (NAS) should cost £150!. Yes, complex flavour evolution, mid palate very peppery and quite a mouth burn, evolves into a smoother ending. Lots of orange notes, glad I purchased a 'drinks by the dram' version to test, rather than spend £150+ on what I consider to be a whisky easilty out-classed by £50 bottlings from other distillers
Matured in six different casks and brought together, this King Alexander III from dalmore ticks all the boxes for someone who loves to drink an elegant whisky with flavours and textures. However, if u r someone who can easily differentiate young whiskies from old matures whiskies and prefer the aged ones, this one may be a slight disappoint as it has pretty much young whiskies heavily reliant on the flavours from the casks. Nose: Sweet, fruity and lots of wine Palate: Chewy. Smooth. Fruity flavours. Lots of wine influence. A bit spicey. Finish: Bitter and medium. The wine influence is quite high. Easy and rich and elegant on the palate. Low ABV of 40% helps.
Hands down the best whisky I've tried, don't worry about the price you cant go wrong with this.
Purchased my first bottle and was not disappointed. Very smooth and rich whiskey. Nose, pallet and finish were excellent. A top 3 in my collection.
Very, very smooth; perhaps it's the 40.0 ABV, but I find the finish could be better for what your paying for this bottle. The palate is fantastic!
