Dalmore Cromartie is the third in a series of limited edition releases crafted by Dalmore's Master Distiller, Richard Patterson, in homage to the clan Mackenzie. This luscious Dalmore is matured in American white oak casks before being transferred to Oloroso sherry casks from world-renowned bodega; Gonzalez Byass, Jerez de la Frontera.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Floral, with thick dried fruit; there are raisins, dates and some candied peels.
The palate is as thick as the nose suggests. The dried fruit dominates... add figs to the mix, plus there's sweet marmalade, chocolate and leather, with a good jolt of pepper.
Dark, dark chocolate, 80 percent cocoa solids at least. A balanced bitterness over marmalade caramel.
Thick, dark and reassuring. A whisky you have to chew.
A SUBLIME WHISKY.AS NEAR TO PERFECTION AS ONE CAN GET.A MYRIAD OF FLAVOURS
Master Blender Richard Patterson has worked his magic yet again on this one...need I say more
This is a very good whisky. A great mix of orange peel, dark chocolate, pepper, coffee and cinnamon. I am giving 4 stars, as the nose is a bit muddled and muffled. A bit of water helps, but it is not perfect. Still, it's well worth it's price, in my opinion.
Was intrigued with the history of the Dalmore and purchased Cromartie and the Dalmore 15 year old out of curiosity. It took me awhile to decide which was the greater pleasure. Just taking in the lovely nose is only the beginning. Holding this lovely elixir on the palate is pure heaven. Did I mention I am a 56 year old grandma? My cup of tea at night was keeping me awake. Cromartie is the perfect nightcap. Sweet dreams.
Had a free sample of this in Harrods last Christmas - liquid velvet curtains! My son hates whisky but had a sip, paused and then came the words of the wise, '**** me Dad, that's gorgeous'!!
