Dalmore Cigar Malt was discontinued in mid-2009, causing quite an uproar indeed. The whiskies used for the reworked version were actually slightly older, but naturally still pair perfectly with a cigar.
It's a great whisky, whether you drink with its intended purpose in mind or not. And if you do enjoy cigars, you'll want to know that the stick that provided the flavour benchmark for pairing is the hefty Partagas Serie D No. 4.
Caramel, shortbread, biscuits, coffee and chocolates. Simple, clean and moreish.
Yet more toffee, caramel edging towards the burnt cinder-toffee side of things. Flamed orange-zest, and perfectly integrated sherry.
Reasonably simple, Christingles (orange Zest and clove with a touch of cinnamon), more mid-palate than palate-coating.
Definitely meets the criteria of pairing with a ‘BIG’ cigar.
Caramel, Caramel and Caramel. Nothing else. Not to mention, the value that you pay for such shitty whiskey. I would have given 0 start but there was no option as such. I am using this whiskey as a mixer now for cocktails.
So smoth!
Tried a few top quality drams, the cigar malt is still my fav. Quality
After tasting several other whiskies all present agreed this to be our choice It was stated that this one was so good it could be dangerous
Absolutely loved it. Smooth, Smokey, and that caramel taste comes through. The flavour lingers until your next sip. My favourite dram by far.
