    Dalmore Cigar Malt

Dalmore Cigar Malt was discontinued in mid-2009, causing quite an uproar indeed. The whiskies used for the reworked version were actually slightly older, but naturally still pair perfectly with a cigar.

It's a great whisky, whether you drink with its intended purpose in mind or not. And if you do enjoy cigars, you'll want to know that the stick that provided the flavour benchmark for pairing is the hefty Partagas Serie D No. 4.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Caramel, shortbread, biscuits, coffee and chocolates. Simple, clean and moreish.

    Palate

Yet more toffee, caramel edging towards the burnt cinder-toffee side of things. Flamed orange-zest, and perfectly integrated sherry.

    Finish

Reasonably simple, Christingles (orange Zest and clove with a touch of cinnamon), more mid-palate than palate-coating.

    Overall

Definitely meets the criteria of pairing with a ‘BIG’ cigar.

    Not what it was

I recently retrieved my last bottle of the "real" Cigar Malt that I had stashed 5 years ago. I shared it with a couple of like-minded friends on my 60th birthday. We all agreed that it was still the best of the Highland single malts - and we'd loved the price (~$34 at the time). One had brought the new Cigar malt - sorry pard. It ain't as good, and it's damned expensive

    Scott

Funny as I've just had a dram of this with a Partagas Serie D No. 4 (My cigar of choice) and didn't even realise that the whisky was blended to go with it haha still an epic combination, and I would recommend to everyone that they try it, although if you're not a cigar smoker, be prepared to get your face blown off by the partagas :) Enjoy!!!

    So so

Seems like Dalmore tried too hard on this one. I found the tastes very superficial. Better choices for lower prices available.

    Nice, very nice!

fresh nose, like spring on a sunny day, chocolate easter eggs, delicious sweets and gingerbread Complex palate, spicy, pepper, cinnamon, orange zeste, even some roast chicken (like my mother used to make) A long and warm finish, so sweet and smooth it's melting away like a dream early in the morning, with a touch of vintage port, white chocolate . Lovely !!!! I Whish it could last even longer. Absolutely fabulous. Defenitely one of my top 10 drams

    Excelent

It has got to be one of the most end of the day relaxing Scotches on the market, I don't know where you get bottles for 29 bucks when mine cost me 145.95 in the LCBO in Canada you must have stole it at that price.
