Dailuaine 9 Year Old 2010 (Master of Malt)

Distilled in 2010, this single malt from Dailuaine was filled into a refill hogshead before setting off to find its own destiny out in the big wide world. As fate would have it, a benevolent bottler and master of whisky was waiting to nurture such potential, and nine years later, that destiny was fulfilled! A total of 340 bottles now join our exclusive Master of Malt collection.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Soft stone fruits open things up, with peaches and apricots leading to creamy rice pudding and fresh, doughy bread. There's a touch of sweet lemon in the distance, backed by plenty of oaken vanilla.

    Palate

Superbly delicate and creamy to begin, with fluffy sponge buns, smothered with buttercream. Lemon drops and a touch of dried raspberry nestle beneath, with trickles of butterscotch ice cream.

    Finish

A tickle of sweet, warming ginger edges in towards the finish, kept in check by all that creamy, biscuity malt, toasted oak, white chocolate buttons, and stewed stone fruit.

    Value for money

I found this to be a easy sipper, in that it was nice enough, but a bit gutless. I am glad i tried this, as the value at 30 quid is great, but will happily move on to somthing new.

    Almost gave up on speyside....

I'd almost given up on speyside malts as I found them all very similar in flavour and never found one that made me want to purchase another bottle. Until now I found this to be an easy drinking dram, smooth with a slight warmth, this is definitely on the sweeter side from nose to finish. For me Peaches were dominant on the nose with a little bit of citrus. And the palate left me with a long finish of home baked Victoria sponge cake and white frosting. Will buy again if there is some left!
