Blended
Cutty Sark
Scotland
Cutty Sark's Prohibition Edition blended Scotch whisky is a higher strength expression, sitting at 50% ABV (their classic expression is bottled at 40% ABV). Created as a tip of the hat to famous Prohibition era rum-runner Captain William McCoy...
There's custard notes familiar from the 40% ABV expression, though now paired with more citrus, pear and fudge cubes you get in sea-side sweet shops.
Toffee chunks with a little bit of dark chocolate hidden inside. A touch of grassy malt and crushed nuts.
A final hint of caramel and golden malt.

Another budget dram, and what a Bobby Dazzler this is! Twenty four notes and worth every penny. Cutty Sark is a blend, bottled at 100% proof (USA)giving a cracking 50% ABV. Non chill filtered but maybe a bit of colour added. Nice presentation with black glass hefty bottle and cork (cheaper blends tend to be screw topped) and a nice stand out label. Nose:-Chrikey. Toffee. Caramel. There’s smoke in there but from a distance in the glass. I thought a hint of damp wood that comes and goes. Vanilla maybe, and acetone that disappears rapidly. The bottle was opened two hours before, and both glasses poured an hour before drinking. Taste neat:-Oh it’s smooth. Very surprised for the ABV and age. There was a smokey oak thing but not overwhelming. Sweet to sour finish. Slight pepper on the finish? We went from two of these to Bunnahabhain 12 and it felt like this was a slightly less polished Xmas pudding influenced Bunna. It is though defo a sipping whisky, and we both sat there saying “for the money this is a cracker”. There is a lot of bang for buck here. It’s doesn’t taste cheap. There is stuff in the glass to make you think. It feels quality and it’s sad some bar keepers may have this just for cocktails. Didn’t try with water. 50% and neither of us felt the need. That is a sign how squared away this is. Love it.
Very unique taste. Pepper, toffee, and brine. This flavor profile probably wouldn't work at a lower proof, but at 50 percent abv it has enough body and burn to make up for it.
It's an unique dram, tastes like nothing I've tried before. Heavy treacle toffee which I absolutely love.
I don't normally drink blende whisky bu Cutty Sark is the one that ido. Must say I'm very fond of it and recommend it.
A good dram for the price easy to drink and nice and smooth give it a try cheers
