Craigellachie 8 Year Old 2006 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)
A classic, meaty Craigellachie that perfectly showcases the distillery character, which is partly down to their use of traditional worm tub condensers. This single cask also exhibits impressive complexity for its years as well as plenty of flavoursome punch at a natural cask strength of 64.1%. Distilled in October 2006 and bottled in April 2015, it spent 8 years in a refill Sherry cask. Just 83 bottles are available.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Milk chocolate buttons, coffee beans and blackberries. Wafts of golden barley and then some classic Craigellachie meatiness (think ham).
Palate
Continued meatiness, though not as prominent as on the nose. Green apple boiled sweeties and freshly popped popcorn (sweet, not buttered).
Finish
Toasty oak and a little bit of BBQ smoke. Lasting mellow notes of ripe banana all the way to the end.
Overall
Big and meaty, but with a depth of flavour that belies its years.
