An intriguingly smoky single malt from the Cragganmore Distillery, released as part of Diageo's Special Release 2019 series. Yes, smoky Cragganmore! Even the owl on the label looks surprised by this! No feathers ruffled here, though, because it's a rather tasty expression indeed. This one was matured in refill American oak casks for 12 years before being bottled at cask strength.
Lemon peel, Conference pear and rhubarb and custard sweets lead, with tanned leather, sandalwood and a hint of earthy peat in support. With water, there’s grilled pineapple, marmalade, soft toffee and a hint of green cardamom add depth.
More orchard fruit, some drying spice and a little honey initially, then water reveals a savoury hint of gamey meat is followed by a note of peppery oak and then a sweet layer of vanilla sugar.
A beautiful balance of sweetness, smokiness and spice lingers, with a faintly tart citrus element underneath.

Amazing balance of fruit and peat. Dried fruits on the nose (apricot, pineapple, apple, pear) with touch of peat; on the palate, lovely heat with the fruits followed quickly by a spent-match type of peat flavor. Very nice mouth-feel, spent-match lingers... and lingers
Tried it in October when we toured the distillery. Loved it. My question is, how soon can you ship to Canada, any province in Canada, where I might be able to purchase it.
