A sherried 12 year old single malt from Diageo's Classic Malts range, this bottling from the Cragganmore distillery represents Speyside and proffers a rich, slightly floral whisky with barley notes.
Aromatic, floral. Heather, fruit salad, creamy texture. Smoked almonds, stemmy hay.
Rich, honey, stone fruits, chestnuts, walnuts, almonds. Berries.
Smoky, good length, delicate peppery spice.
I found this a very good whiskey which is easy drinking and with a smooth aftertaste. It was almost creamy in its texture and with a lovely floral scent
One of the best , no doubt
My favorite tipple is The Belvenie Doublewood, which I find has a much fuller aftertaste. This is a decent ans enjoyable scotch, but not a s"grown-up" as the Belvenie.
A bit on the thin side. Some nice notes. Got a couple of bottles as gifts. Would I buy it ? - no. Would I drink it / - yes, with a degree of pleasure.
I think it's definitely worth trying. Very different from the vast majority of supermarket whisky. I look forward to trying again in all honesty.
