Very exciting stuff here, folks! This is the first single malt whisky from the Cotswolds Distillery (as well as being the first single malt whisky ever distilled in the Cotswold countryside!). A much-anticipated release, which has been produced using barley grown in the Cotswolds, distilled in their Forsyths copper pot stills (Mary & Janis) and aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and red wine casks. We've been eagerly awaiting this whisky, and we know plenty of you have been too!
The first thing you notice are spicy cereal notes, malt and porridge, then comes the fruit - orange peel and lemon. Grassy and floral flavours followed by marzipan.
Beautiful texture, creamy and round, with sweet citrus fruit and black pepper.
Good length. There’s vanilla custard and a lift of aromatic freshness that will make you want another sip.
I keep trying different whiskies, just to find one I DON'T like from MoM! I've failed again. This is very much a "put your feet up disconnect the phone, don't answer the door" job. In the nicest possible way. NOT one for sharing. My search for something I don't like goes on. Sigh! I shall just have to keep drinking.
You will struggle to find a better tasting whisky than this at any price. We did a blind tasting session and all 3 of us rated this as better than significantly more expensive and more "respected" scottish brands. A cracker
Enjoyed this one , especially at £26 . Thought I'd try as an alternative and was impressed. Love the prickly heat on the palate like a black peppery note and the creamy finish. Reminds me of a Penderyn madeira finish and the same ABV . Thumbs up to Cotswolds . Very outstanding.
It drinks very young, unusually hot on the tongue. Difficult to appreciate or locate any flavours there might be hiding in the spirit. A drop of water does improve it VERY slightly, promising future though, non chill filtered is always appreciated ?
Not a fan of smoke or peat, and for me, this is a REALLY drinkable drop. Soft, smooth, with very pleasant warm cuddle. In terms of flavour profile...don't know about tangerines, marzipan, or the waft of a unicorn fart, but I thought it was a hugely satisfying sipper.
