Very exciting stuff here, folks! This is the first single malt whisky from the Cotswolds Distillery (as well as being the first single malt whisky ever distilled in the Cotswold countryside!). A much-anticipated release, which has been produced using barley grown in the Cotswolds, distilled in their Forsyths copper pot stills (Mary & Janis) and aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and red wine casks. We've been eagerly awaiting this whisky, and we know plenty of you have been too!
The first thing you notice are spicy cereal notes, malt and porridge, then comes the fruit - orange peel and lemon. Grassy and floral flavours followed by marzipan.
Beautiful texture, creamy and round, with sweet citrus fruit and black pepper.
Good length. There’s vanilla custard and a lift of aromatic freshness that will make you want another sip.
Got a bottle, A because I wished to try an English Whisky and B, because Jim Murray rated it very highly. I was not disappointed, it is a lovely Whisky and I will be ordering another bottle or Two. You have to give it a try. Kev Doncaster
Light breezy nose with hints of malt, spicy pepper on the palate with a spiced honey finish to the after taste. Maybe not as complex or rounded as many of the best but sits well with 'mid-range' whisky.
I must echo what others have said. For such a young Whisky it is truly outstanding. I will be purchasing another bottle, and trying their other offering. Kev Doncaster
On my second bottle now, a very amazing blend of whiskey one of my most favourite, try it you will not be disappointed!
English malt?! Wtf I hear you yell! This is a real gem. Full and rich, I get nuisances if a Glenmorangie 10 crossed with a Dalmore 12. It’s ripe fruit, dark and ever so lightly smoked with hazelnuts or almonds hanging around toward the finish. Bravo to the Cotswolds distillery and the barley they use can certainly be picked up on. This is a real joy to have in my collection, I love bringing it out for my fellow Scots who would ordinarily sneer at a “malt” from south of the border. Reasonably priced also.
