An American single malt produced in Virginia at the Copper Fox distillery. This is made with malt which has been dried using apple and cherry wood!
Fantastic smoke flavor
Got this as a gift. It is one of the most unique whiskies I've experienced. Sweet, waxy nose with lots of tea notes. Think green tea mixed with barn yardy puerh too. Some smoke, fire place, buttery barley sugar, wet grass, hay in a barn -- taste is sweet up front, some caramel, waxy, white pepper, smokey bbq sauce that's lightly sweet and the finish is cherry cola and more barley sugar with some cereal notes. I like it -- I'm not always in the mood for it but when I am it's very enjoyable.
Try it! I really liked it neat, no ice, no water.
So, to me, the nose was sweet, like fruit and oak, and a touch of leather. Legs on my glencairn ran slow, so I assumed it was aged awhile. The taste was not as expected. Initial impression was a lot of smoked wood, and as it settled, it reminded me of pipe tobacco. Very harsh on the palate. After adding a drop of water, it mellowed, but still tasted like pipe tobacco, which, isn’t horrible, but I wouldn’t spend 75 on this bottle, when I could have 18 year old glenfiddich.
As I am from Virginia, I wanted it to be amazing. However, the only thing that amazed me is that anyone has finished a glass. The nose is that of spent wood on a camp fire lit with old motor oil. The flavor is a mixture of rubbing alcohol soaking in freshly cut oak. I keep looking for caramel, coffee, or vanilla on the nose, but all i find is that smell when the fire needs to be put out, my water bottle is empty and my bladder is full.
