A 24 year old official expression from the now silent Convalmore distillery, this bottling was distilled in 1978 and has been released at cask strength as part of a rare limited edition.

The nose has rich phenolic notes and tar, hints of bitumen and creosote with dry rope and rusty iron. The palate is rich and full with oily phenols and smoke. There is a herbal quality with peppermint and ginseng. There is an omnipresent richness with superb character. The finish is long and oily with a little dry wood.
I had this as a 29th birthday present a little while ago, and so pleased to find somewhere else that sells it! Such an aromatic, full-bodied malt, lovely peat aromas, full, tar. Sweet, thick, peaty in the mouth, long finish. A great vintage ;-)
