Introduced to the Great King Street range by Compass Box in 2014, the Glasgow Blend is a superbly full-bodied blended Scotch whisky. It's made with 33% Lowland grain whisky and 67% malt whisky from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay, aged in a combination of first-fill and refill ex-bourbon barrels and first-fill Sherry casks, with a small portion being finished in new French oak. Plentiful amounts of Sherried fruit touches surrounding a core of peaty notes - yummers.
Fun note: The label features a picture of The Wellington Statue outside of Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art, complete with traffic cone hat, said to be a symbol of the city's sense of humour.
First endeavor with CBox, recommended by local store owner...very nice start with sherry and then peat finish that I was looking for. Will recommend to those who want nice price point and blended peat experience.
I enjoyed the strong peat taste and smoothness. Better than many single malts.
Just picked it up based on the reputation of previous Compas Box blends. It is a very smooth blend of lowland and Highland and the flavours mingle very well, lots of character, nice and brash smoke and peat in the start, smoothing and changing personality as it finishes, quite clean on the palate. Another Compass Box success! I would rate it 90 at least, a great buy.
Excellent blend. Big depth of flavor: from cinnamon and Christmas cake, fresh highland fruitiness and a big ever present peaty punch. For under $80 Canadian this was a steal.
Smoke peat sherry whats not to like well worth the money
