This small batch bourbon is named after Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, an incredibly important figure in bourbon's history from the 1800s who owned a whole host of distilleries and innovated production methods which are still used today. It's only right that the Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch lives up to his name by being absolutely amazing.
Caramel apples, fresh corn and cloves. Butterscotch sneaks in after a while.
More corn sweetness, mixed with slight spiciness of rye and cinnamon.
Medium and very rich with creamy vanilla.
A really great small batch bourbon.
I've tried a number of bottles over the years. small batch always used to be consistent and solidly good, but my latest bottle was borderline average. viscous, too overwhelming and not balanced as previous bottles, I'll have to think twice before purchasing again , especially at this price .
Everything about this Bourbon is class from start to from finish. If you like your higher end bourbon (not just in price but in taste and quality) give this one a go.
I love trying Whisky & Bourbon that I have not tried before. Over the last 10 years I’ve tried a lot ! As soon as I tried this EH Taylor Small Batch I knew it was special. This is the best bourbon I have ever tried. I am not going to try and describe how good it tastes, my words would not do it justice. If you are looking for a good bourbon please try this. I purchased another bottle straight after opening the first.
Good nose, that doesn't follow through on the pallette. It comes across as very young and ethanol forwards. Improves a bit with water. Save your money and buy a bottle of Eagle Rare instead
Blanton's is my go to top shelf bourbon. The Colonel has now earned a place right beside my trusty friend! EH Taylor is smooth, as you'd expect from the Buffalo Trace family. This has about 75% corn but you def taste the rye which adds a nice kick. A perfect sipping bourbon and outstanding in an Old Fashioned of course.
