The Coleburn distillery was sadly one of the many losses suffered by the whisky world during the 1980s - luckily, some independent bottlers continue to bottle the whisky which they distilled before their doors were shut. This Gordon & MacPhail Rare Old bottling of Coleburn single malt was distilled in 1981 and bottled in 2015. Collectible and exciting for whisky enthusiasts...
Vanilla rich from the outset, with a light, earthy, somewhat vegetal note of vanilla pod deepening this element. Citrus zest begins to develop a little later on.
A touch of dark chocolate appears alongside the rich vanilla. Soon enough, dried fruits develop too.
Greek yoghurt and a hint of old oak.
