This is the first batch of delicious Clynelish single malt from That Boutique-y Whisky Company. It's got a lovely flavour, typical of the house style, though with a good dose of sherry thrown in for good measure.
The label depicts a trio of cats, inspired by the grammatically inept felines of the internet. In this instance, a mother cat is scolding a ginger tom (Clynelish), telling him she'd prefer him to be more like his older brother (Brora). This is a reference to the fact that, in the whisky world, Clynelish is often (unfairly) made to play second fiddle to the now-silent, nearby distillery Brora...
This is a release of 197 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, bourbons, blended malts and blends from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.
Ginger and hints of sea salt. A little overripe grape, orange peel and spice. Dried apricots.
Coastal, oily mouth-feel with notes of fruit to the fore, particularly cantaloupe melon. A touch of apricot, with a development of sherry, figs and spice.
Spiced finish. Very fruity now, with gorgeously intense spice notes.
A fruity, coastal whisky from Clynelish with a lovely sherry flavour.
