The Chita Japanese single grain whisky is one of the selection of fantastic distilleries owned by Suntory – you can learn more about The House of Suntory here.
Chita is their main expression - a whisky matured in a combination of Sherry, bourbon and (interestingly) wine casks.
Chita whisky is great for the summer months.
Honeydew melon, citrus and honey'd cereal.
Vanilla sponge cake and more honey. A touch of orchard blossom.
Medium length, rather zesty.
As all new releases from Japan, chill filtered, low abv, light or 'smooth' for the non whisky drinkers. Not worth the price tag
I bought a bottle of this as a punt at the airport, so as not to arrive where I was going empty-handed. I loved it - really tasty, quite smooth. I thought it tasted slightly of fudge or butterscotch but what do I know?
Got this bottle as a gift! It's a bit light and lacks complexity for my liking. A higher ABV might make this a better bottle. But It is Japanese whisky, so it's going to be overpriced. Overall, if I were to pay, for a non-aged bottle, I'd probably pay a little bit more for a bottle of Wolfburn 155, which I was pleasantly surprised. Even though it lacked a bit of age.
Nice and sweet like a bourbon - like it's almost as if this is how Haig Club wanted their whisky to taste but failed miserably.
A bit too sweet for me and lacking in any complexity. Tastes like a cheap mixer whisky,
