The Chita Japanese single grain whisky is one of the selection of fantastic distilleries owned by Suntory – you can learn more about The House of Suntory here.
Chita is their main expression - a whisky matured in a combination of Sherry, bourbon and (interestingly) wine casks.
Chita whisky is great for the summer months.
Honeydew melon, citrus and honey'd cereal.
Vanilla sponge cake and more honey. A touch of orchard blossom.
Medium length, rather zesty.

Nice taste.
This is a mighty good all-rounder. It’s suitable for both sipping and mixing. By all means this is very japanese. It has a very floral, sweet nose like some great Speysiders but this is grain and japanese + grain = SWEETNESS squared. This goes on in the mouth where honey, light chocolate/caramel and citrus. It’s really pleasant and the finish is medium long with a sweet edge. This is a great summer whisky as it is, but You should try this out: One long drink glass. Throw in three good ice cubes. 6cl Chita goes in too. Top up with neutral club soda or ginger ale/beer. Well done. One star off for high pricetag.
I was very pleasantly surprised as I am a Single Malt nut!!! And not a particular lover of Japanese Single Malts. I concur more easily with the notes from the Masters of Malt rather than those from the distillers. My first impression was of smoothness and honey which with a little time melted into a caramel. Orange notes at first but fades quite quickly. A most enjoyable and very drinkable dram but not a long finish. Haven't yet tried it with water much less with ICE!
For the price of 37€ from an airport sale, this is a must-buy. Hot damn what a cracker of a dram. Melons, honey, citrus, confectionary notes. Beautiful
Beautiful.
