It's the Distiller's Edition of the Roundstone Rye whiskey from Catoctin Creek, bottled at a slightly bumped up 46% ABV! Only one in every 10 barrels makes the cut for this special release, and like all Roundstone Rye releases, its mashbill is 100% rye. Heaps of herbal, chocolate and, of course, spicy notes to be enjoyed here.

I've been a fan of this whisky for a long time, since 2009, when they started producing in my hometown of Purcellville, Virginia, USA. They are super-committed to craft production, a smaller distillery than you'd guess from the size of their distribution footprint. This whisky is their best, a traditional rye whisky done in the style of whiskies that were in the Virginia area in the 1800's. Traditionally pot-stilled and hand-crafted. Excellent stuff!
