A well-balanced, gentle single malt from Speyside. Cardhu 12 is a very well put together malt.
Good body, decent sweetness, richness. Streaks of smoke, apple peels, bruised pears.
Smooth, rounded, gentle sweetness, soft peat. A little smoke whispers sweet nothings.
Long, dry smoke, malty touch of peat.
Not as great as gold reserve but still giving decent satisfaction.
I'm a fan of Speyside single malts, yet this one was underwhelming. To me, it's very similar to the less expensive Highland Park 12. In some ways, it's bested by the former. If you're a fan of either, a massive step up is Craigellachie.
Absolutely love this malt. My go-to for good honest value for money whisky when on special offer (which it occasionally is).
Very smooth and easy to drink. This is really well-balanced and subtle whisky, one with hints of orchard fruit, cream, and smoke, but nothing overpowering the senses. It is very pleasant and probably one I'd by as a 'go to close whisky to suit almost any occasion.
