The Inverdarach Potstill Editions is a collaboration between Ardgowan and Austrian whisky retailer Potstill, and this single malt from Caol Ila joins its inaugural collection. Distilled in 2012, the whisky matured for nine years in a hogshead cask that yielded a total of 186 bottles when it was opened in 2022.
Classic waves of coastal salinity, bonfire smoke, and grilled fruit.
Hefty helpings of peat smoke open the way for warming notes of cinnamon and anise, while peppery spice creeps beneath.
That spice awakens for the finish, with dried chilli and zesty lemon backed by smouldering coals and toasted oak.
A gorgeous, smokey, peaty dram ! Takes me back to the winter nights in a Connemara pub sitting by the peat fire.
