Wine Cask
There are just 183 bottles of this single malt from Caol Ila – independently released by Murray McDavid for its Benchmark collection. Distilled in 2014, the whisky was treated to a finish in a Tokaji wine cask before bottling in 2023, so you can expect delicious notes of sweet, vinous fruit alongside classic coastal peat and creamy malt here.
Vibrant layers of herbaceous peat and stewed, syrupy sultanas, joined by robust roasted malt and honeyed tea cakes.
Tropical fruits arrive, with charred apricot and pineapple, hints of salted mango, and waxed citrus backed by runny honey and bonfire smoke.
Aromatic woodsmoke, salted fudge, pink peppercorn, and lingering smoked fruit.
