The folks at indie bottler Woodrow's of Edinburgh got their hands on a cracking cask of single malt from Caol Ila here. Distilled in 2007, the single malt matured in a refill Pedro Ximénez hogshead for 14 years before bottling in 2022. A release of 252 cask-strength bottles, without added colour or chill filtration.
Sweet cinnamon and dried fruit join zesty marmalade, with coastal, earthy peat in tow.
Stewed plums, toffee, oily malt, and smoky notes of beachfront barbecues.
The smoke lingers alongside poached stone fruits, zesty peels, and candied salted nuts.
