The spirit of this single malt Scotch whisky was sourced from Caol Ila Distillery before Gordon and MacPhail matured it in its own casks for its new introductory range, Discovery. It was aged for a total of 13 years before being bottled at 43% ABV.
Soft vanilla and sawdust, with subtly coastal smoke wafting in.
White fruit, sponge cake, lemon, oatcakes and smoked cheese.
Burnt sugar and earthy peat.

Lovely smooth whisky with a well balanced smoke and peat profile with some sweetness. I found it needed no water to tone things down- it's a very easy sipping whisky which is dangerously moreish. I'll be making it a regular purchase.
Wow, I think I have a new favourite. Very peaty, but with a rich sweetness.
Very easy on the palate...smooth all the way around. Very happy with this scotch
Very delicate and nuanced. Light in colour and flavour. Fragrant marine quality. Lots of typical seaweedy smoky notes but more ephemeral not in a punch-you-in-the-face way.
Much less peat and iodine than the regular Caol Ila 12, making room for rich and sweet fruit, almost christmassy. For my taste, as a fan of Highland Park, more in my comfort zone than most other Islay malts. A keeper without doubt.
