Making quite an addition to the Connoisseurs Choice range from indie bottlers Gordon & MacPhail, this single malt Scotch was distilled at Caol Ila in 2009. It initially matured in a bourbon barrels before finishing for two years in a sassicaia casks (a very fancy Tuscan red wine). Bottled in 2022, non-chill filtered and naturally coloured, with complex red fruit character finding its way into the characteristic Islay smoke. An outturn of 3,550 bottles.
Meaty smoke, spiced biltong, gorse flower, and sundried raisins.
Summer berries, hedgerow fruits, spiced ginger cake, summer barbecues, and a touch of candied citrus.
Peppery spices build, with grilled cherries, and waves of Islay peat.
