An unpeated single malt from Islay's Caol Ila distillery. Matured in first-fill bourbon barrels for a decade, this whisky was bottled at cask strength (a punchy 65.8% ABV) in 2009 for Diageo's annual Special Releases.
This bottle was part of a private collection and will show signs of wear if of a certain vintage - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Quite sweet and tangy. Fruity, custard, orchard fruits, citrus. Dry after a time.
Massive body, rich and oily (in true Caol Ila style), big tangy fruit notes, sweetness, punchy oak, citrus tang.
Huge, spices, leaps and bounds of chilli and pepper, still fruity, but also deep, herbal and woody.
Love it!
