Moch is Gaelic for dawn, and this release from Caol Ila is an altogether lighter prospect than the distillery's excellent 12 year old standard expression.
Lemon sherbet and apple crumble topping with custard. Dry grass and not a hint of smoke.
Sweet lemon meringue pie and soft, very soft mouthfeel. The peat hits a third of the way in but it's restrained; soothing wood smoke rather than burning tyres, and it retains a sweetness throughout.
Soft drying smoke.
A tasty, easy drinking Islay that's pulled back on peat but not on flavour.

I’ve always gone by - ambiance - feeling - temperature - company - occasion- etc, being the reason for choosing a certain dram. Caol Ila Moch is well suited to encompass all these and many more of your nuances. An almost perfect dram. N.
Fairly mellow, smooth, wood smoke, easy drinking, enjoyable and definitely different. Thumbs up from me.
Lagavulin 16 brought me into the world of Islay and this dram opened my eyes. I’ll always be loyal to Lagavulin but I absolutely loved this. It’s a fresh, well balanced whisky with a hint of sweetness and a perfect punch of peat. Great at this price point too!
its sensational...we drank it at the Islay distillery among st others ...easily the most drinkable of the brand..we want to purchase more but your postage to Australia is way over priced...anybody got any ideas
What a delicious whisky! Delicate, grassy and sweet, it's long finish ends on a gentle smoky note. Just wonderful. Something different from the smoky beasts of Islay!
