1997 vintage Caol Ila, bottled as part of Diageo's superb Distillers Edition range. This was finished in Moscatel wine casks, and the result is a nuttier, fruitier whisky. Well worth a try.
Nutty and smoky on the nose with notes of sweet smoke, cloves and various other Christmas spices. Hints of ice wine, almond, Nutella on granary toast, and burnt sugar.
Rich and thick with notes of toffee apples, cloves, nutmeg and cool wood smoke. Hints of oil, bruised rose petals, and soft peat.
Long, briny and oily with a lot of smoke on the finish. Some cloves, some apple peel too.

Peaty and medicinal on the nose with rich fruity fragrant. Can certainly feel the sherry cask finish here. Palatewise, signature bonfire stands out pretty nicely with some more complex spicy notes. Absolutely lovely.
