Caol Ila 18 Year Old 1990 - Mission (Murray McDavid)
This was distilled at the Caol Ila distilled in 1990, and originally matured in bourbon casks. Then Murray McDavid took it to the Bruichladdich distillery, and reracked it into Chateau Haut Brion casks before bottling it in 2009. A release of 1,202.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Creamy, with lots of berry fruits. Notes of strawberry jam on Greek yoghurt. Some peppermint, some stewed plums.
Palate
Herbal and creamy, lots of stewed fruits, some apple strudel. Wine-finished whisky notes, dare we say. Some oily peat smoke, some coal tar, and hints of peppermint.
Finish
Peppery and fruity, grist and smoke. Good chili warmth.
