    Caol Ila 12 Year Old

An Islay classic that we will never get enough of. Caol Ila 12 year old is the entry-level bottling from the Caol Ila distillery, launched in June of 2002. Caol Ila is the largest of the Islay distilleries by output and so it’s a favourite of brands, independent bottlers, and blends like Johnnie Walker.

Caol Ila 12 Year Old appeals to connoisseurs while also making the perfect entry to the world of peated whisky for newcomers, with its beautifully measured and mellow smokiness and a rich array of seaside flavours. It’s a serial award-winner that works great in cocktails (we recommend a smoky Highball), as well as being a good whisky to pair with salty and savoury foods.

    Great value, nice finish

Current favourite Islay at this price point. Particularly enjoy the long spicy finish.

    Excellent dram

Absolutely lovely.light peat and smoke and very smooth oily feel in the mouth.i preferred it to Ardbeg and Lagavulin 16.ive tasted most of the peaty smokey ones and the only one better than this for me is tallasker dark storm.really enjoyed it close to perfect for me

    Hunting for flavours

The first few times I had this, it was practically enemic which is rare for an Islay. However if your patient enough there are some nice subtle notes and a peppery finish. Much better Islays out there however

    Great

    Very Smooth

    Vinod Dharewa Apr 24, 2021

    Nice drinkable Islay malt

Not overly peaty and drinkable. Is a relatively clear pale whisky in colour and smooth to drink. A nice contrast to Laphorhaig. A few drops of cold water also changes the aromatic notes. An easy drink by the fire!
