Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is of medium-body with notes of barley sugar and aniseed, notes of cut grass and fennel, a hint of straw and a vegetal freshness. The palate is quite sweet and gentle. There are notes of winter spice and dark sugars, a touch of rum. The finish is of medium-sweetness and of medium-length.

    Smooth as I remember

Wanted to try this again having tasted it many many years ago. It was just as good as I remembered, smooth with a fabulous taste. Next bottle on order!

    Hubby's favourite drink

He loves it with American dry ginger, a slice of orange and an ice cube. That's all that can be said!

    Like a vodka......

Like a whisky flavour vodka . Jim Beam is cheaper and better. However the quality of Canadian Club is good : no hangover day after. Easy drinking and nothing special I paid less than £20 but it supposed to be £10 -£12 per bottle. Probably not bad with ginger ale or maybe on the rocks ? Not for me anyway. I like bourbon and well aged whisky.

A good value smooth and unpretentious whisky

This is a smooth unpretentious whisky. No unusual or complex flavours, not fiery or peaty. A little sweetness and wo0diness in taste. Its one of those nostalgic drinks for me, used to get it at the pubs when I thought I was a sosphisticated young man, with a splash of Canada Dry ginger in it. Its not expensive so one can't expect the nuances of a single malt, its just a reliable drinkable tot. Got it from Master of Malt as it is rarely on the shop shelves for some reason. Saved me the travelling miles trying to source it.

Good But not the Best from CC.

Excellent Whisky. I drink it neat. It or my taste buds have changed over the years. It seems to be smoother with more oak taste but also sweeter. I prefer the 100% Rye. But the 1858 is one of my go-to whisky's.
