    Jolly Toper & Neil

Nose:- Light, gentle, hot but not 59.4% nostril scorching. Typical grain sweet vanilla with pleasing delicate oak, barley sugar and possibly milk chocolate. Age unapparent and simple- typical grain really. Rum and raison ice cream perhaps. A bit metallic, but that could be a personal note usually picked up with Cameronbridge and Port Dundas - does stainless steal have an aroma? Zinc sink says Neil? Palate:- Full strength, not too aggressive but still simple, a wave of distillery character too ellusive for my poor palate. Sweet with more rummy notes (Neil). More age from the wood side with a warmimg up period. Strength is more obvious on the finish. Dry. With water:- 'that's one smoooth Skatch'. The nose more penetrable - marsh mallow finnish, still with the lighter Caribbean rum angle. I get the feeling this will handle a lot of water. Comments:- For the sweet toothed, maybe instead of a sweet after dinner wine. Not mind bending, as good as most bottlings if you need an initial grain introduction but if you are into your grains it is unremarkably pleasant. Like most single grain bottlings a good insight to the role grain plays in a blend. I wish there was a spell checker on this site!
