Best value whiskey on offer today, bar none. can be had for 25 euro a bottle, yet has nuanced complexity of something you would otherwise have to spend 3 times as much on. Think of everything else at the price point, mostly only good for mixing with soft drinks, harsh, young, spirits. Black bush is for sipping neat, for savoring. Nose: very sherried with a hint of sweetness, perhaps from the grain. Palate: sherry again, quite strong but not too sweet, its rounded off by some wood and vanilla. Lots of biscuity malt, hay and barley. Finish: lots of malt, robust sherry. Firstly, the facts: - blend of grain & single malt aged 8-11 years, mostly aged in sherry casks.
Had this for the first time in Manhattan, and it was outstanding!
I was kinda surprised to find out this is aged 11 yrs, I mostly drink Scotch so maybe just Irish Whiskey tastes lighter to me, it was ok on the rocks but delicious mixed with Coke, thats about all
I typically drink JW Black. One night at an pub tried several Irish Whiskeys and fell head over heels with Black Bush. Love it! It's a shame many places will only have Bushmills Original. Excuse me but I love it with ginger ale!
