An award-winning 16 year old Irish single malt from Bushmills based in Northern Ireland. Aged in three different cask types: bourbon, Port and sherry maturation imparts notes of fruit, nuts and spices – a great example of the influence of different cask maturation. The brand has retained its small batch philosophy for over 400 years, which is wonderful.
A classic Irish nose of honey, yoghurt and tinned stone fruit, this also has a lovely cassia bark character which develops in the glass.
Spiced and rich with juicy summer fruits, Christmas spices, pine oil, manuka honey and peaches in syrup.
Thick and syrupy with notes of red berries and Golden Syrup.

Being from a big producer I expected this whiskey to be all mouth and no trousers, but I was wrong. Smooth, mellow yet full of flavour, this whiskey is infinitely sippable and fandangos on the palette. The label lies though; the finish is mango all day long.

I got this from my for my birthday on the 28th. I have heard of the all-around great taste of this amazing 16year. I can't wait to try it as I have always been an avid bushmills drinker.
Apart from being a very good Whiskey, the company either by pure luck, or a calculated effort, has managed to provide a closure (being cork in this case) that actually FITS the bottle perfectly, as opposed to 95% of other manufacturers .Well done Bushmills, and TAKE NOTE you other "Shortcutters"
