    Single Malt

    Bunnahabhain Eirigh Na Greine

Bunnahabhain's Eirigh Na Greine was originally released for the Travel Retail market, with its name meaning 'Morning Sky' in Gaelic. A portion of this single malt was matured in red wine casks, resulting in juicy berry notes throughout, blending well with the wafts of sea salt and orchard fruit.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Toasted sugar, vanilla, raspberries and a little honey.

    Palate

Apricot, sea salt, black pepper, more wine cask-influence berry sweetness.

    Finish

Smoky and quite long. A little bit spicy, too.

    Excellent and complex

Every single malt that is produced on islay is excellent IMO. This is no different. Pairs really well with a nice glass of full bodied red. If I find this again at duty free I'll be getting another bottle as the one I had was only £54 for the litre in Liverpool duty free. I do feel though that's it's not worth the £99 MoM are asking for it here. Especially since you can get 2 of them for £90 at duty free (if there's any left)

    Fabulous whisky

I don't know what to say that others haven't already said.... Unbelievable whisky. The sweetness combined with salt and pepper taste is incredible and something I haven't come across yet. Try it if you see it!!

One of the very few really great NAS whiskies

To sum up taste : Lots of fruit hint of red wine. This is one of the very few NAS whiskies thats excellent. I get no "young" feeling from this at all, probably masked by the islay storage. Rich on flavors, stick for a long time especially fruit and red wine. The fact thats its non-colored and non-chill filtered is in my book a plus , higher abv also helps the flavours come thru. If you can get this for 80 euros its a good buy for 60 its a steal. If i should "criticse it for something its that the aftertaste ( eventhough long and pleasant) is a litlle "twodimesional".

My all time favourite Single Malt

Sailing on a tall ship in a Greenland Fjord, we picked up some blue "singing" ice that had been in a glacier for 10,000 years. We added up the ages of the six us, and by simple multiplication we tried a dram of this ingle malt, with just a tad of the "singing" ice. Bloody marvellous, 40-million years of careful ageing, something all of us will always cherish.

    Good but not for everybody.

Noticeably fruity, light salty peat aftertaste. It's balanced, with little burn from the alcohol; but lacks any overall character. Works well with a single ice-cube. Those drinkers who like the smokier Lagavulins or Ardbegs need not apply.
