An utterly delightful indie bottling from The Vintage Malt Whisky Co.! This single malt was distilled at Bunnahabhain and interestingly boasts plenty of characterful Islay peat smoke. It spent a generous maturation in American oak, followed by an additional period in a Calvados cask! The combination of coastal smoke and boozy apple is a joy – a spectacular addition to The Cooper's Choice range.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Warm, spiced apple crumble sprinkled in cinnamon and vanilla cream. Gentle wafts of smoky salinity poke through.
Palate
Malty with juicy sultanas and big hits of fermented cider, followed by some coastal air, soft peat smoke and fresh seaweed.
Finish
The Calvados influence continues with heaps of baked apple and cider notes, tied up with vanilla, burnt embers, smoked coffee, and charred spice.
