In what will be seen as a positive move to whisky connoisseurs, Bunnahabhain have decided to bottle the 25 year old without chill-filtration and without colouring. Presented in smoked oak glass bottle and aged label design.
Sherried; sweet toffee and polished leather followed by cinnamon and the faintest hint of cardamon.
Fruit compote doused in cream and caster sugar, this develops into roasted malt, chestnuts and stewed raisins.
Demerara sugar, mixed spice, nutmeg and caramel lingering for long after the final sip.
Bunnahabhain with twenty-five years aging opens up the spirit to a plethora of rich, dark flavours that stay with the drinker long after the glass is finished.
A wonderful progression of what you'll find in the 12 and 18, I smell toffee, bananas, unfinished wood and rum and raisin ice cream.
Worked my way through the Bunnahabhain’s really enjoyed them all. But in my opinion this is by far the best. Well worth the wait glad I treated myself.
My Christmas whisky. Amazing, full of aroma and a long finish. Rather save up to..:)-
I dont typically stray away from the peated Islay Whiskies, however we spent a week on Islay recently and on a visit to the Bunnahabhain distillery I sampled a couple of glasses of the Bunnahabhain 25. This is hands down the best non peated whisky I've ever had in my life. A smooth as you like with a touch of sweetness and a tiny bit of spice. Its difficult to describe just how good this whisky is but it really is a 'must try'. I also tried the 18 year which is also a little masterpiece, but didnt quite hit the complexities of this 25 year. For the price I suppose you're left with the choice of buying one 25 year bottle or three 18 year bottles. I'd choose the 25 year.
This is my all time favourite single malt scotch. It's the paragon of rich subtlety. All the flavours are pretty soft but exquisitely sweet, creamy, and nutty. Twelve years of tasting hundreds of malts and this stands head & shoulders above the rest. Well done to the folks at Bunnahabhain!
