Bunnahabhain
Scotland
Single Malt
A rather impressive limited edition release from Islay's Bunnahabhain distillery, featuring 20 year old whisky which has enjoyed a finishing period in casks that once held Palo Cortado sherry. The whisky was distilled in November 1997 and bottled in April 2018 after nearly two years in the Palo Cortado casks, them bottled at cask strength. 1,620 bottles were produced.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Burnt brown sugar, olive oil, peanut butter, hints of dark chocolate poking through the savoury notes.
Juicy red berry sweetness develops of the palate, with salted peanut notes remaining. A touch of orange sharpness.
Mature oak, maybe even a bit of rancio. Golden syrup.
N: The Taketsuru 21 is a temporal teleportation to the outside door of my grandfather's milking shed. That was the original Star Trek engineering department. This is Next Gen. Geordie is fully focused on enhancing the performance. P: Everything, everywhere all at once. It's difficult to begin where one might contain this dram. I've rarely had a whiskey that exceeds my mouth's ability to rope and commence measuring it. A: Deep inside a priorly lusciously soaked barrel, heavenly scrumptious notes are, in whatever order they appear, going to perform like the greatest master. Its almost impossible to define the breath and depth of this dram. Just buy three. Now!
