One of Bunnahabhain's special bottlings produced for the 2014 Islay whisky festival. Distilled in November 1996, it was moved into a Cognac cask in October 2007 before being filled into a Sauternes wine cask in December 2013. Just 301 bottles were produced. The label was designed by Mathilda Holmqvist, whose design was chosen as the winner of the Tales of the Sea Design Competition. The competition also raised funds for the Fisherman's Mission charitable cause.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Luxurious, sweet and creamy. Nuttiness soon emerges - whole almonds, nougat and sweet malt. Light caramel and a little Haribo develop. Gregg Wallace would like this.
Sweet and nutty with complex spices including plenty of nutmeg.
A little smoke and some fruitiness in the form of kiwi and starfruit.
Nutty dessert whisky. This premium festival bottling is rich enough to stand up to the sweetness too.
