    Bulleit Rye

Has there ever been a moment when you've been sipping Bulleit Bourbon and wanted it to have even more rye? Well you're in luck, they now have their own Rye whiskey! Bulleit Rye is made with a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and is produced in small batches. An absolutely stunning rye that won a Double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2013.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Big heaps of cherries and vanilla, with subtle notes of leather and tobacco.

    Palate

Rather hot at first, the spices coming to the forefront. This is followed by peaches, more cherries and a little bit of orange zest.

    Finish

A smoky finish, carried by cinnamon, allspice and a hint of sweeties.

    Overall

The Bulleit distillery sure know their way around a rye whiskey.

In a world of over-priced whisk(e)y, Bulleit Rye, given its high quality, is practically a steal. But it. Buy it now.

    Top Notch!

Fantastic! My definite go-to, favorite rye! Mixes great, good poured over a single cube, and even better neat! Drink a double out of a Glencairn glass and take it all in - five stars all the way and then some. Remember, don't cheat yourself, treat yourself!

    Not as good as ...

As is says it is a whiskey, not bad at all, but to similar taste to others ... their Bourbon is much better option to my opinion.

Great fun, strong & sweet rye flavour with 'frontier' harsh edge, tho not elegant

Bulleit 'frontier' Rye, like many other ryes, is made by the MGP (formerly Seagram's) distillery of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, which does not have its own brands, & supplies many 'craft whisky' marques. Uncorking Bulleit, Canadian whisky fans will immediately recognise the strong rye nose in this 90-proof (45% abv) whisky in the antique-style bottle. The dominant sweet flavourful rye taste is paired with a slightly harsh bitter under-taste, & a bourbon-style 'burn', making for an overall pleasantly rough-edged 'frontier' whisky, as the label & bottle name it. Good fun to sip straight, tho without the elegance & balance of Canadian whiskies with their pre-dominance of rye flavouring.

I'm new to rye. smother than scotch or irsh whiskey, not as sweet as corn burbon. I like it a lot
