Smoky single malt from Bruichladdich's Port Charlotte range, originally bottled for the Travel Retail market. MC:01 was initially matured in two types of cask - American whiskey and French oak - before being combined and finished in casks that previously held Sicilian wine. A wonderful juxtaposition between smoke and sweetness to be enjoyed here.
Spicy clove, toasted malt with smoke developing, oaky vanilla and a touch of apricot liqueur.
Cooked pear with cinnamon and more clove, earthy peat, smoked almond, tinned peach and sea salt.
Salted butter smothered over warm apple and peppery heat.

Absolutely love this whisky. Tried it when I visited the distillery and then couldn't find it anywhere. Lovely combination of peat with sweetness of the wine casks, really velvety on the tongue. It's 56% so I sometimes add a few drops of water just to take the edge off.
