Port Charlotte 6.2 11 Year Old 2011 - Jim McEwan Signature Collection (Dramfool)
Part of the Jim McEwan Signature Collection from Dramfool, it's a peated Port Charlotte single malt that's been given the seal of approval by the former Bruichladdich master distiller himself. Distilled in 2011, the whisky spent 15 years maturing in a former Jack Daniel's cask, yielding 209 bottles when it was opened in 2023.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
Opens beautifully on a brilliant combination of peat embers & a spicy sweetness encapsulated in a cradle of sweet mellow oak with a drift of the Ocean bringing a freshness seldom found in many whiskies matured full term by the Atlantic.
Palate
The sweetness of the malted barley works wonderfully with the spiciness from the bourbon soaked staves. Add to that peat fire embers and the marine overture all held in a halo of mellow oak.
Finish
It envelopes the taste buds like a warm peat fire on a stormy night as the wind and rain batters the Island.
