Bruichladdich

Single Malt
Introduced as the flagship Port Charlotte expression produced by Bruichladdich in 2018, this 10 year old single malt from the Isle of Islay is a lip-smackingly smoky number indeed. It's peated to 40ppm, and drawn from a combination of first-fill American whiskey casks, second-fill American whiskey casks and second-fill French wine casks.
Salted caramel brownie, flamed orange peel, a hearty whack of seaweed.
Oak-y smoke and salty sea air, paired with sweeter notes of Custard Cream biscuits and white grape.
Ginger snaps, rye toast, drying peat smokiness.
It is just like it says on the bottle, a smooth but peaty number, not overly peated or oily like some other Islay malts. Would definitely recommend to lovers of Islay whiskies.
Decent enough but somewhat rough around the edges and not particularly smooth on the palate. Needs to breathe a bit prior to drinking and it’s becomes a bit better. Not sure I’d buy it again. Not unpleasant by any means.
Leave me a bottle on the shelf. The best Whisky I’ve ever tasted. Peaty, peaty, peaty, like licking tar off the road, but in a good way, no water needed. Give me more, more, more.
Purchased for a friend, who was generous enough to share it and I'm glad he did! Easily one of my favorite whiskies in some time. Love the tasting notes by Master of Malt, especially the ginger snaps finish. I thought it was cinnamon, but ginger snap is spot on!
Truly delicious dram. So well balanced - savoury, sweet and well peated. Bit of peat with treacle sweetness on the nose. Palate had some salt, barbecued meat and dark caramel. Finish for days, left with the warmth of peat. Favourite bottle of 2022.
