A sibling to 16.1, the 16.2 release uses the same Scottish mainland Concerto barley peated to 101.4ppm, but instead of bourbon it has matured in a rich mix of Oloroso and Bordeaux casks before being finished in Madeira and Moscatel. Bottled at 58.1% ABV, it shows how cask influence can transform the Octomore character into something richly layered and indulgent.
Caramelised sugar and roasted hazelnuts mingle with sticky figs and sultanas. A soft swirl of campfire smoke rises, laced with red berries and polished oak.
Dark fruits dominate, with raisins, plums, and cherries accented by nut brittle and treacle. Sweet spices and wine tannins frame the peat, which feels mellow yet persistent.
Long and evolving, with dried fruit, spiced smoke, and a lingering nuttiness that leaves a deep, satisfying impression.
