The gateway to the Octomore 16 series, this 5-year-old single malt has been crafted from 100% Scottish mainland Concerto barley peated to 101.4ppm and matured entirely in first-fill bourbon casks. Bottled at a bold 59.3% ABV, it demonstrates Octomore’s knack for weaving immense power with surprising poise.
A rush of peat smoke rolls in, but it quickly reveals layers of salted caramel, honey-drizzled melon, and apricot. Vanilla pod and coconut shavings follow, wrapped in a delicate mineral edge.
Thick waves of smoke coat the palate, balanced by golden honey, juicy stone fruits, and toasted oak. Chocolate and coconut lend richness, while a saline undercurrent keeps things bright and lively.
Lingering, smoky, and complex, with earthy peat, cocoa, and a faint maritime breeze.
