This right here is the Octomore 12.5 release from Islay's Bruichladdich, which was aged for five years. As with the rest of the range, you're in for a peaty treat here, though there's a bit of a balancing act going to with this particular expression. It was initially aged in first and second-fill American whiskey casks but then finished in first-fill Sauternes wine casks! The intense peat (this one sits at a robust 129.7PPM) and the bold sweetness of the wine casks makes for a fascinating juxtaposition.
Honeydew melon and orange peel, honey roasted nuts, earthy, oaky smoke with a lingering touch of petrichor.
Still packed with smoke, though it's mellowed by fresh peach, pear drops, and golden syrup.
Hickory, lemon peel, and brown sugar.
