    Single Malt

Bruichladdich 14 Year Old 1991 - WMD II The Yellow Submarine

This single malt from Bruichladdich was named for a yellow mini-submarine that was discovered just miles from the distillery! The vessel remained after clearing mines left from World War Two before a local fisherman discovered it. A good dram for a hard day's night?

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed info and/or photos just get in touch!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

The nose is clean with a fruity freshness. Notes of honeydew melon and fruit salad with fraise des bois and a little tropical fruit developing with a perfumed disposition. A gentle oak balances things out nicely.

    Palate

The palate is fruity and quite full with excellent integration from the estery fruit and aniseed notes with toffee and Seville marmalade and hints of peppery spice with bruised pear emerging.

    Finish

The finish is quite soft but of good length, very fruity with a gentle oak.

    It's Mine!

I was the maintainer of this very Yellow Submarine that was lost from the Minehunter that resulted in the naming of this bottle. I never got any samples from the distillery so I had to purchase my own. I did purchase 2 of which 1 has since been very quickly drunk! The other one I have kept as a keepsake for my personal link to this whisky. A lovely whisky that I will have to wait until I see another in the shops before tasting again. My unopened bottle shall remain unopened!

    Pure Awesomeness

A friend of mine purchased this on clearance - I tasted it and I went back to grab the last bottle the store had - it was already gone, sadly. If you find this, buy all you can! Soft on entry and finish - a nice kick in the middle. No real 'in-your-face' taste aspects which may lead some to believe it is simple. I believe rather that it's quite multi-dimensional and subtle so it requires extra work to decipher the layers within this one. Very smooth and soft and overall a very nice Whisky indeed. This one is not out of control in any direction and I'd recommend to anyone.
