Single Malt
Scotland
1 Jan 2009

A 2009 vintage single malt from Bruichladdich, made with 100% organically grown Scottish barley. In fact, the whole process of making this whisky, from barley to bottle, has been organically certified by the Biodynamic Association!
Melted butter, salt and pepper crisps, sweet pastries.
White chocolate fudge, lemon peel, vanilla and brown sugar.
Citrus notes become more orange-based, with continued vanilla-y barley.

3rd December in the Advent calendar. I really enjoyed it neat, I wonder what the 4th will bring.
It's a solid whisky but the grassy flavors can be a bit overwhelming.
75% water in your glass will destroy any whisky. It's not fifty "degrees" it's 50 percent alcohol by volume. Just sayin'. This one is fairly good but not great. I like it with a sprinkle of water, about 4 percent. It rates an 84. Yes, it would make a nice cocktail but maybe it's a little too good for that.
I was fortunate to be given a bottle. I do not drink whisky, have never found it special, but since the Bruichladdich was there... and oh my goodness, what wonderful flavours. Because it's 50 degrees I added 75% water, which softened the 'kick' and, I found, allowed more appreciation of the layers of different tastes. Thankyou.
